1. Why Us?
All of our classes are run by experienced and passionate instructors who are fully insured, DBS (previously CRB) checked and first aid trained. Our classes also include self defence and sparring which is of course optional. We train with all different abilities whether its your first time learning a martial art or you are a black belt in several martial arts we aim to keep our classes as varied as possible to accommodate everyone. Our approach to training is mirrored by our students approach. If you enjoy coming to our lessons for light training and meeting new people then we will never push you too hard. On the other hand if you come to train for competitions then we will push you to your limits and encourage you to work as hard as possible. Our highest priority is that you enjoy coming to our lessons as much as we enjoy teaching them.
2. Choose A Class
We have classes across Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire which are suited to all ages and abilities. Every class is very similar so the only decision to make is which suits you best. This may be the time, location or maybe a friend already goes to one of our classes, the choice is yours. All the details such as times and locations can be found in our classes page.
3. What Do I Need?
Yourself. This is always the most important thing. A drink of water or squash depending on your personal preference, energy drinks aren't recommended but we won't stop you bringing them either. Some comfortable clothing which allows you to move freely such as a gym top and shorts or leggings. If you wear tracksuit bottoms or similar please ensure they are elasticated at the bottom so you can't slip on them. If and when you sign up your uniform consisting of a t-shirt and trousers are supplied FREE of charge. All the necessary equipment such as focus pads and strike shields are provided by us however if you wish to bring your own focus pads that is fine. Gloves and all other protective gear is not required for training however it is required for sparring. If you are planning on coming again after your first lesson it is not essential but your card details will allow us to fill the form in on the night. For more information on equipment and signing up visit our FAQ page or to see what we recommended visit our Equipment page.
4. What To Do On Arrival?
Don't be shy. Everyone at our club is friendly and is more than happy to have a chat and make you a part of the group. It's always best to arrive roughly 5-10 minutes before the lesson starts as this will allow us time for you to fill in the insurance forms and health report. This is simply to cover you and us in case of an injury but this is more of a formality than anything and is nothing to worry about.
5. The Lesson
Unless you come with a friend you will be paired up with another member of the club and they will work with you for the whole lesson. The lesson starts with a warm up and then stretches which are partner stretches to reduce the risk of an injury. The whole class will be shown a routine which may look confusing if you are new to martial arts in which case we will come over and show you a basic routine. On the other hand if you are experienced in martial arts already then you are more than welcome to join in the with the routine shown to the rest of the class. The lesson finishes with a cool down and some classes then continue with sparring or additional training depending on the class. For more details on this visit the classes page. If you enjoyed the lesson then you are more than welcome to have a chat with one of the instructors about joining and they will take it from there. Alternatively there is more information on this in our FAQ page.
6. The Next Step...
This is up to you. You can take the information away with you and think about whether the club is right for you or if you feel you have enjoyed the lesson and would like to join our club then we will see you again very soon.
